O' Darby's

Featured Wines

This month, we are featuring two red blends from 14 Hands Winery’s “Essential” Collection – 14 Hands Kentucky Derby and 14 Hands Stampede. These blends have recently become very popular with folks leaning toward Columbia Valley wines; and the two we are featuring this month are exceptional in their representation of Washington state full-bodied red varietals. In addition, both are very affordable and enjoyable with a wide variety of menus ranging from good old home style country ham biscuits to eclectic ethic dishes like spicy Indian curries. Enjoy, friends! (*See 14 Hands on our video page!)

“This opulent red blend showcases juicy Washington fruit character with aromas of blackberries and plums with subtle hints of chocolate and pepper. Flavors of dark berries and cocoa, supported by plush tannins, give way to a long-lasting, persistent finish.” (Winemaker’s Notes)

90 Points, Wine Spectator
“Features a firm texture around a generous core of ripe blackberry, cherry and mocha flavors, hinting at licorice as the finish rolls on. Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and other red grapes.”

14 HANDS Stampede Red Blend 2014
“This robust red blend kicks things off with aromas of spice and cedar, leading to flavors of cola and cherry. A lighter oak regimen shows off the wine’s unique characteristics, including lively acidity and a dramatic enduring finish.” (Winemaker’s Notes)
